SVG describes a logo or icon as shapes and lines, so it stays razor-sharp at any size. The catch is that a lot of places won’t take it: image editors, many marketplaces, email, social posts and some CMSes all want a raster file. Converting to PNG renders the artwork into pixels they can handle.
